    La Constitución de los Estados Unidos tuvo efecto este día, 21 de junio de 1788, cuando los nueve estados la ratificaron. De aquellos que escribieron la Constitución, veintinueve fueron episcopales, nueve presbiterianos, siete congregacionalistas, dos luteranos, dos reformados holandeses, dos metodistas, dos católicos romanos, un cuáquero y un deísta-Benjamín Franklin, quien declaró durante los debates en la Convención Constitucional, junio de 1787: "Hemos sido asegurados, señores, en las Sagradas Escrituras, que 'sólo que el Señor construya la casa, aquellos trabajan en vano para construirla'.
